Installation
Install the su-ns-harness plugin in Claude Code. What you need in NetSuite first, the two install commands, and how to update or remove it.
On this page
Before you start
You need three things.
- Claude Code. The CLI, the Code tab in the Claude desktop app, or an IDE extension. The plugin has to run in Claude Code: the desktop app's Chat and Cowork tabs, and claude.ai, can install it, but they don't run its hooks, so nothing gets checked there.
- Node.js 18 or newer on your PATH. The hooks run with
node. Check withnode --version. The plugin runs on macOS and Linux. - The NetSuite AI Connector, connected and enabled.
Set up the connector in NetSuite
In NetSuite, install the MCP Standard Tools SuiteApp. Then give your role the "MCP Server Connection" permission. Oracle's Get Started with the NetSuite AI Connector Service covers the setup, and Connect to the NetSuite AI Connector Service covers each AI client.
Connect it to Claude
The plugin works with either route. Pick one.
As a claude.ai connector. Use this when you run Claude Code in the desktop app, or when Claude Code is signed in with a claude.ai account. Go to Settings → Connectors → NetSuite → Connect. Then make sure it's enabled for the session. In the desktop app's Code tab, open the composer's + menu → Connectors.
As a Claude Code MCP server. Get the MCP server URL from NetSuite's AI Connector Service setup page, then run:
claude mcp add --transport http netsuite <MCP server URL>Then run /mcp, pick netsuite, and choose Authenticate.
Install the plugin
Add the marketplace and install the plugin from inside Claude Code:
/plugin marketplace add suiteutils/suiteutils-netsuite-claude-harness
/plugin install su-ns-harness@suiteutilsThere's no account id to enter. The plugin never connects to NetSuite itself: the connector does. Each connector reaches one account, so the plugin keys its cache by the connector the calls go through.
Reload before you use it
Run /reload-plugins, or start a new Claude Code session:
/reload-pluginsA plugin installed mid-session may load late or only partly, and its hooks may not fire until you reload. The account profile arrives with the next session start.
Remove Oracle's skill if you added it
Oracle publishes a skill for the connector called netsuite-ai-connector-instructions. If you installed it, remove it. Both skills would load for the same questions and give Claude conflicting instructions, including the ROWNUM pattern this plugin blocks. This plugin's netsuite skill is derived from Oracle's, so you keep its guidance. Why a plugin, not a skill covers what the plugin adds on top.
First run
Ask Claude a NetSuite question, or run /su-ns-harness:init. With an empty cache, Claude runs init by itself first. The Quickstart covers what init does and how long it takes.
If anything looks wrong, run /su-ns-harness:doctor.
Update
/plugin marketplace update suiteutils
/reload-pluginsStarting a new session works in place of /reload-plugins. The changelog lists what changed in each release.
Uninstall
/plugin uninstall su-ns-harness@suiteutilsThe cache, saved results and audit log stay in the plugin's folder under ~/.claude/plugins/data/ until you delete it.
Install su-ns-harness
Run both inside Claude Code, then /reload-plugins. Version 0.5.1, free and open source.
/plugin marketplace add suiteutils/suiteutils-netsuite-claude-harness/plugin install su-ns-harness@suiteutils
